The Chinchillas are harmless animals. If they are asleep, they can be woken up by playing the Animal flute. When awake, they'll follow the player until they touch it, as long as they are in their line of sight. They'll follow the Yoyo around and prefer it over the player if it is in their sight. They'll run away from Firecrackers.
Chinchillas are often used as part of puzzles.
Getting crushed by a chinchilla is rewarded by an achievement.
