The Waterdrop puzzle was part of the pre-release ARGs.

The day is July 20, 2022. Billy Basso posted an article "How Animal Well taps into PS5 hardware to elevate 2D pixel-art platforming"

on a PlayStation blog showing off animated gifs and the rendering techniques that make Animal Well come to life. Within the blog post lies a normal maps sprite sheet showing of a few animals and objects.

TwilightZenith was first to alter the image and discover the hidden text, "WATER DROP". One of the gifs on the blog post just so happens to have water dropping from the ceiling. By slowing down the playback of the gif, TwilightZenith noticed that letters would appear next to some of the water drops. By switching the gif to HD and going frame by frame the gif produced the code "MSC5QW6S2WI5QV". Later on, A M found more letters in another gif of an explosion "PZO89AZIAUVAPDD". Some time would pass and it was discovered that by combinng both the codes and putting it back in the old cipher you could get part of the code
