The egg room, also known as the peacock room, displays the collected eggs. It is part of the central area and can be accessed via a ladder from the beacon room.

Egg collecting

The empty egg room before collecting any eggs

The egg room is connected to several alcoves, which are closed by gates. Each gate is blocking off a reward for collecting the corresponding amount of eggs. The peacock's call announces when the rewards for collected eggs become available. The corresponding gate starts opening when the player reaches the egg room.

The reward for eight eggs is the animal flute, 16 eggs – the pencil, 32 eggs – the top, and for all 64 eggs – the 65th Egg.

Code

After collecting 64 eggs, using the UV lantern in the egg room will reveal glyphs on the eggs consisting of various arrangements of three horizontal lines. The UV markings in the animal flute tutorial room reveal that a single upper line corresponds to note 1, a single middle line to note 2, and a single lower line to note 4. This can interpreted as a 3-bit binary number system, similar to trigrams in Bagua:

  • ☶ = 1
  • ☵ = 2
  • ☴ = 3
  • ☳ = 4
  • ☲ = 5
  • ☱ = 6
  • ☰ = 7
  • ☷ = 0 (8)

Once collecting all 64 eggs, the following song can be deciphered from this code:

↖ ↓ → ↓ ↖ ↓ → ↓ ↖ ↙
↘ ↙ ↖ ↙ ↘ ↙ ↗ ← ↓ ← ↗ ←
↓ ← ↑ ← ↘ ← ↑ ← ↘ ← ↖ ↓ → ↓
↖ ↓ → ↓ ↖ ↙ ↘ ↙ ↖ ↙ ↘ ↙ ↖ ↗
↖ ↙ ↗ ↑ ← ↓ ↑ ↖ ↙ ← ↑ ↖ ← ↖

Playing the song unlocks a hidden area in the egg chamber leading to the office key. While the background ambience in the egg room is in tune with what the song would sound like if the whole song was shifted up a semitone, holding the button R down isn't required and doesn't make a difference in the outcome.
