Animal Well
Animal Well (stylized in all caps) is an exploration metroidvania game developed by Billy Basso and published by Bigmode. It was released for the PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows on 9 May 2024, and was priced at $24.99 USD at release.[1]
Premise
Explore a dense, interconnected labyrinth, and unravel its many secrets. Collect items to manipulate your environment in surprising and meaningful ways. Encounter beautiful and unsettling creatures, as you attempt to survive what lurks in the dark. There is more than what you see.

Gameplay
Animal Well is a 2D metroidvania-style puzzle-platformer characterized by its sprawling map, heavily environmental puzzles, and a wide array of secrets to uncover. The player finds items scattered around the map. Items can be used for traversal and for interactions with the animals and mechanisms, which are part of puzzles throughout the game.
Progress in game can be saved by interacting with the phones.
Release and Reception
Animal Well was released world-wide on the 9th of May, 2024. It was made available for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 on their respective storefronts, as well as on Steam via PC or Steam Deck. Additionally, a physical Collector's Edition was made available for pre-order between May 24th and June 23rd through Limited Run Games for the Switch and PS5.
