Blue ghost
Blue ghosts are a type of ghost in Animal Well. They come in two types: moving and stationary. Moving blue ghosts are less common and try to kill the player by chasing them. Stationary blue ghosts appear as a blocky fog that blocks off areas of the screen. Similar to other types of ghosts they have a strong reaction to light.
Moving blue ghost
They will flash for a few seconds when finding a path to the player before chasing them. They can be destroyed by light from firecrackers, a lit candle or exposure to the lantern. The ghost will only appear if the player is reachable from the ghosts spawn point. They move in strictly horizontal and vertical lines when chasing the player. They always reside in a room with at least one pillar with a face statue in the background, usually directly behind where the blue ghost spawns.
Interactions
- Deal four hearts of damage on contact.
- Are destroyed by an active firecracker until the player dies or loads in from the main menu.
- They are invisible and don't move if the lantern is active. If the lantern is brought near the ghost it will be destroyed until the player dies or loads in from the main menu.
- Are permanently destroyed when a candle is lit by a match in the room within their line of sight. Moving blue ghosts not immediately destroyed will instead avoid the candle-light when chasing the player. They will never again spawn in a room once its candle has been lit.
- Toggle blocks can reset or prevent their pathfinding to the player. By repeatedly activating toggle blocks, the ghosts' pathfinding will be continually reset, causing them to get stuck in place.
- They do not interact with any other tools.
Stationary blue ghost
Stationary blue ghosts are blue ghosts which appear in clumps and do not move. They can be repelled by the lantern. More of them appear across the map as you collect more flames. Only the number of flames collected affect which clumps spawn, the specific flames collected do not. They sometimes spawn in rooms with a high amount of pillars with faces statues in the background.
Interactions
- Deal one heart of damage on contact.
- Are temporarily pushed aside by the lantern in a large circle around the player. The space where the ghosts were becomes transparent and the player can pass through unharmed while the lantern is active.
- They do not interact with any other tools.
