Heart

The player's health is represented by hearts.

Up to four red hearts are replenished by consuming fruits. An additional four blue hearts can be replenished only by consuming blue fruits while at full health. Additional four yellow hearts can be acquired by consuming potions given by the groundhog.

Almost all attacks by hostile animals deal one heart of damage. A moving blue ghost deals four hearts of damage. Getting eaten by a chameleon deals eight hearts of damage to the player. Chinchillas and penguins can crush and kill the player, regardless of the player's health.

Touching metal spikes, stalactites, and stalagmites deals one heart of damage. Getting crushed by a large stalactite kills the player regardless of their health.
