Great egret
The great egret is a hostile animal in Animal Well that attacks by stabbing its beak into the ground. Two of them are located in the lower left quadrant of the map, first seen from above as the player gets a glimpse at this room. Using the disc or the B. wand to evade them will lead to the Great Egg. This is the only location that they can be found. They do not have a statue in the well.
Name
This animal was identified as great egret by players. It is speculated that their closeness to the Great Egg is a pun. Conversely, these animals are or were called "cranes" in the source code as per datamined filename crane_animation.png[1] and per file gif_cranes.gif in the official press kit, which also has a screenshot featuring the birds called screen_waterbirds.png.[2]
